A 24/7 gym with no staff: how it works

A gym’s opening hours are the front desk’s opening hours. You close at 22:00 because there is nobody to stay. And every hour outside a shift is an hour the gym sits empty.
Round-the-clock entry solves exactly that. Here is how it works in practice.
How does a member get in at 3 in the morning?
The member holds their card, fob or QR code to the reader on the turnstile. The device at the door checks their permissions and unlocks in under a second. The entry is logged. Nobody is at the front desk.
That is it. No phone call, no code sent by text, no night shift.
Expired memberships stop on their own
Every access carries an expiry date - monthly, quarterly or a single day. On the day it runs out, the card simply stops opening the door.
That is the difference from an ordinary lock or fob: nobody cleans up lists by hand, and no old cards keep working.
If you keep memberships in separate software, a connection to it is available on request through the API.
One person, one card
A full-height turnstile lets one person through per rotation. Sharing a card does not work physically - the second person simply stays outside.
And the log shows whose card was used and at what time. In a dispute you have a record, not a memory.
Forgotten cards and trial sessions
Both cases are handled from your phone in a minute.
You issue a temporary pass - for a few hours or for the day - and it expires by itself. The member who forgot their card gets in. So does the person who came for a trial session. Nobody drives to the gym to open a door.
What the gym needs
A turnstile at the entrance, a reader, and a device that makes the decision on the spot. Permissions are managed from a phone or a computer.
If you run several gyms, they live in one system: shared reporting across all locations, while the manager of one site sees only their own.
In short
- Members let themselves in with a card, fob or QR code - at any hour.
- Access carries an expiry date and stops on its own.
- The turnstile passes one person per rotation, so cards cannot be shared.
- A temporary pass for a guest or a forgotten card takes a minute to issue from your phone.
- Several gyms run from one system.
